Microblading FAQ

What is microblading?

Microblading originated from the ancient form of Japanese tattooing called Tebori, meaning “by hand”. A small, sterile, disposable hand tool is used to implant pigment into the skin, replicating the look of hair, shadows, and structure. The thin lines created with microblades flow in the same direction as existing brow hair, allowing the tattoo to blend seamlessly and naturally. Two appointments are included in your brow investment.

How long does it last?

Depending on skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare, microblading can last anywhere from 6 months to 3 years or longer. In order to keep your brows looking fresh, a touch up is recommended every 2 years. Please understand that microblading is a process that requires multiple sessions. Patience is a must to achieve a lasting, beautiful brow. Occasionally a third touch up is necessary for certain clients where the pigment does not take as well to the skin, for guests starting with minimal to no existing brow hair, or for guests who desire a bolder look. Factors that will cause your eyebrow tattoo to fade faster: Sun exposure, Smoking, Iron Deficiency, Exfoliants, Exposure to Salt Water, Strong Immune Systems, Anti Aging Skin Care, Anti Acne Skin Care, Chemical Peels, Chlorine, Diabetes, Thyroid conditions.

Does it hurt?

While the process is not completely painless, strong topical anesthetics are used to help keep you comfortable. Every guest’s pain tolerance is different and we will take every action possible to keep the discomfort minimal.

How much does it cost?

Please see our list of artists here, to view pricing.

How long is the appointment?

You can expect to spend 3-4 hours at your initial appointment depending on your artist. Touch up appointments are about 1.5-2 hours.

How do you choose shape and color?

Shape, size and placement are all dependent on your anatomy and preferences. We will take careful measurements of where your brows should be sitting on your face and then draw a template directly on your brow so you have an idea of what to expect. If you would like to fill in your brows before your appointment to use as a reference you may. Color choice is based on your skin tone and existing brow hair. Please do not arrive with a tan or sunburn as we cannot assess your skin tone.

What will they look like afterward?

Immediately you can expect your brows to be darker, thicker, bolder and sharper than you are used to. Do not plan your appointment before a big event or vacation. Most guests will experience mild swelling and redness. For some guests, their new brows will feel completely wearable, and most even wish the pigment healed as dark as appears initially. For complete aftercare instructions, please reference our Pre & Post Care page.

What is the maintenance like?

We recommend color boosts between 12-24 months to keep your brows fresh.

Can I still get Botox, fillers, and facials?

Both Botox and Fillers can change the look and shape of skin on the face. Fillers must be done 4 weeks pre or post-procedure. Botox will change the lift of your brow, so please wait to have Botox injections after your brows are completed. Any facials must be done 4 weeks prior or 4 weeks post service, as your skin will be too sensitive to microblade.

Can I still wax and tweeze my brows?

Do not wax or tweeze your brows for at least two weeks leading up to your appointment. The more hair for us to work with, the better! Once your microblading is completely healed, you may resume regular shaping.
